Wedding Trends for 2009
Now that we are into 2009 it is time to look at what the wedding trends will be for the year. ‘The Knot’ has released today the latest trends that are appearing from the US which are often reflected in the UK.
So, here are a few ideas to be ‘on trend’ for your 2009 wedding:
More and more couple are having environmentally friendly weddings. Sourcing local ingredients, buying second hand and making things themselves. There are loads of ideas for ‘green’ weddings at http://www.ethicalweddings.com/
Pastel and bright colours are being replaced by richer, navy, plum, bronze and black.
Cakes are back to a more traditional style. Two-tiered cakes are replacing cupcakes and cookies.
Patterns are being used a lot more. Spotty bridesmaid dresses, gingham table runners and patterned invitations are all making a splash. We are seeing our patterned, unique wedding invitations becoming more and more popular.
Traditional vase centrepieces are being replaced by vintage vessels. Beautiful jugs and teacups are appearing filled with locally sourced flowers.
Couples are being more creative with lighting. Wedding candles are being used to create atmosphere and also as gifts. And creative lighting companies are being brought in to create visual effects.
UK honeymoons are becoming popular. With the current value of the pound couples are choosing to save money and honeymoon in the UK. http://www.forbetterforworse.co.uk/honeymoon.htm have some great ideas.
So, be inspired for 2009 with the current trends but don’t forget to create a day that is unique and special to you.
Until next time,
Kate
