Winter Weddings Beating the Credit Crunch
Figures released today are suggesting that more couples than ever are turning to Winter weddings to beat the credit crunch.
According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, “retailers claim the trend is the biggest change to hit the wedding market since the 1940s. And it is having a huge impact upon the style of dresses and wedding gowns chosen as brides have to wrap up warmer for their big day. Department store Debenhams saw 22 per cent of its total annual wedding attire sales and hires in November and December this year, compared to just 4 per cent in the same period last year.”
But for those of you who have always dreamed of having a Summer wedding there are many things that you can do to save cash. Rather than opting for a different season, why not opt for a different day. Weddings that take place mid-week can often be a lot cheaper than a Saturday wedding. Opting to serve a buffet, rather than a three-course meal can save substantially. Or, having a barbecue at a Summer wedding can provide for a really memorable occasion. I certainly don’t know anybody who doesn’t love a barbecue!
If you live near a flower market, paying a visit a few days before the wedding to create some simple decorations can save a fortune. A really effective way to do this is to buy some tea cups and place a few fresh cut flowers in them to place on tables. They have the look of expensive decorations but can be done very cheaply.
Another great tip is to hunt around on ‘Ebay’ for your dress. I’ve heard of some bargain dresses being purchased online this way.
So, if you put all this into practice you should be able to have the wedding of your dreams at a fraction of the price. And you should be able to afford all the extras that you had always wanted, invitations, favours and accessories galore!
Until next time
