We had a number of customers who were due to get married last week and we’d love to know whether they made it down the aisle and whether their white weddings were as beautiful as they had dreamed. Last week was chaotic if you were trying to travel anywhere but if you weren’t going anywhere the landscape was beautiful. If couple did decide to go ahead with their big day we are sure they will be rewarded with some beautiful photographs. We spent a long time putting some beautiful wedding favour boxes together for one couple and really hope that their and our hard work didn’t go to waste. Their wedding was due to be held in a stately home so had the potential to be beautiful.
The winter wedding favours are flying off the shelves at the minute so clearly not everybody has been put off having a white wedding!

We have been hearing in the news how badly Sheffield has suffered with the snow these last few days but it didn’t deter one couple from tying the knot. The BBC website reported yesterday of a couple who battled through a foot of snow determined to have their white wedding. We thought this was a great story to cheer us all up on yet another day of freezing temperatures. We hope that you are all keeping warm and you are still able to keep spirits high and wedding planning going through this cold snap. A Sheffield couple battled through heavy snow to have a white wedding to remember on Wednesday.

Ian Cawthorne, 25, and Alecia Houghton, 22, travelled by tram to their ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall after their wedding cars failed to turn up.

Heavy snow has caused major travel disruption in the city with many bus and train services being cancelled.

Mr Cawthorne said he was determined that “nothing was going to stop him tying the knot”.

He added: “When I looked out of the window this morning my heart sank.

“But we were determined to get married no matter what. We have been planning this for a while so nothing was going to stop us.”

Miss Houghton, who comes from New York State in the US, said she was determined to wear her long white wedding gown, which she changed into minutes before the couple exchanged vows.
‘True steel’

“I left my snow boots back in the States never imagining that I would need them here – let alone needing them on my wedding day,” she said.

Sheffield City Council leader Paul Scriven said: “This shows the true steel of Sheffielders.

“The snow and adverse weather conditions has not stopped the town hall opening for business as usual.”

Two other couples who were due to marry at the same venue cancelled their ceremonies on Wednesday.

Bride-to-be Tracy Gell, said: “Looking at the weather outside I wouldn’t have been able to wear my dress, so I know it’s for the best.

“I could have coped with a quick covering, but not this. [It's] absolutely horrendous.”

There were reports of two feet (0.6m) of snow in parts of Sheffield on Wednesday.

I hope that you have all been keeping warm this week in the snowy weather. Our delivery driver had a terrible day on Monday with snowy tracks to overcome with every delivery. He looked very fed up by the time he arrived at our office after 4pm. Our office is in a hilly Lancashire town and the views were wonderful this week. For those of us who didn’t have to travel anywhere is has been a beautiful week.

We have a few brides getting married this weekend and providing they make it to the ceremony without too much disruption they will be set for a wonderful day. The snowy themed wedding favours they have brought from us will really sparkle with the weather like this.
