BIRTHDAY CARDS Flood Home of Boy Battling with Brain Cancer
His birthday isn’t right until Sunday, but Finley Volkman’s party is ready to start.
Finley is almost 3 years old. He is from Fox Crossing, Wis. and he is currently is battling brain cancer.
To help crank out his celebration, his mother started out a birthday card commitment. The signs of help have significantly exceeded Finley’s birthday need,
Stacy Volkman was amazed as crate just after crate of cards and packages were presented to her house.
“It provides me strength to continue to keep fighting. And it provides him energy to continue fighting. And it simply brings contentment and hopes to our household,” she said.
According to the Volkman’s mail provider Virginia, it was the most significant delivery she’s made in her nearly 18-year job.
“It started yesterday and then today there were loads,” she said. “I work tomorrow, so we’ll see what occurs.”
The packages weren’t the only surprise for Finley. On Friday, Officer Stu Zuehls from the Neenah Police Department made a call to his other police officers and they answered.
Officer Zuehls said that it warmed her heart to see as two squads arrived, and they kept coming more and more and more. Officers were pouring in from everywhere, and some of them weren’t even doing work. They were volunteering their time.
At least two dozen individuals of the law enforcement community from jurisdictions all throughout northeast Wisconsin visitedFinley and his family to sing “Happy Birthday.” Afterward, they showed off their patrol cars.
“It’s nice to realize that we can aid to make his day, just by something so small as this,” said Officer Dan Wiechman.
It was not merely a happy birthday treat for this child, but one that means so much to those people who showed up to help him celebrate.
